This week I am turning 58!

Last evening I was talking to my daughter, and she asked me what advice I would give to a 22-year-old. . . Here is my list . . .


1.       Make the most of every day

2.       Don’t compromise your integrity

3.       Embrace a hobby

4.       Allow yourself to grow

5.       Laugh

6.       Love your kids

7.       Love your kids some more

8.       Hug your kids

9.       Hug your kids some more

10.  Tell your parents you love them, hug them

11.  Tell your brothers and sisters you love them, hug them

12.  Take care of your body

13.  Go outside

14.  Learn about financial investing

15.  Go to counseling when you think you might need it, don’t wait until you do

16.  Let your creative juices flow

17.  Whatever you do, do it in moderation

18.  Ask for help

19.  If you want a partner, choose wisely

20.  Write notes to friends

21.  Stay connected with others

22.  Have a pet

23.  Walk and play with your pet

24.  See the beauty in art and nature

25.  Go to yoga

26.  Get massages

27.  Ask for clarification

28.  Walk in nature

29.  Know there is something greater than you

30.  Be present

31.  Be curious

32.  Treat others how you want to be treated

33.  Never stop learning

34.  Don’t rush your self-improvement

35.  It’s ok to say “I don’t know”

36.  Expect yourself to change

37.  Make your bed

38.  Follow your passion

39.  Focus on the positive

41.  Always leave things better than when you arrived

In the past 6 months I have lost my dad, my uncle, my aunt, and 3 cousins.  We don’t know how long each of us will be on this earth.  This is a perfect time to check in and ensure we are living each day to our greatest ability.
